Email - POP3 Accounts

Email accounts, which are often called “POP accounts,” allow you to receive, store, and retrieve email messages. An email account for the administrative user was automatically set up for you when you ordered your hosting account.

Our servers can support virtually an unlimited number of email accounts, which you can set up at any time using the Mail Administrator. Although you are initially limited to 5 or 50 POP accounts, you may purchase additional POP accounts by contacting our Technical Support team at Support@terrasite.com.

To create a new email account on your mail server, log in to the control panel and select POP3 Accounts. Then, follow the steps below:

  • Choose Add User from the User and Alias Information menu.
  • Enter the following information under Add a new user:
  • UserID: This is the username you wish to assign to this email account. Choose a username up to 30 characters in length. Keep in mind that the email address for the account will be username@yourdomain.com.
  • First Name Enter the full name of the user of this account. Although this information is optional, it is useful for keeping track of all the email accounts on your mail server.
  • Password: Type a password for this account. For security purposes, the password will not be displayed on the screen. To make this password more secure, it should contain at least one non-alphabetic character and use a mixture of upper and lower case.
  • Confirm Password: Retype the above password to make sure you typed it correctly.
  • Click Save.

If any errors appear in the Result window, you will need to go back and check your information. If everything was entered correctly, the following message appears:

  • Successful addition of user "username"

IMPORTANT NOTE: When your mail server receives new email, aliases always take precedence over email accounts. Therefore, if you have an alias and an email account on your server with the exact same name, mail will be sent to the address defined by the alias rather than the email account.
